THE HATHI POL

It was maid by the jahangir

-main entrance gate

-BASTIONS- at its sides,meant for mounting guns.

-ARCHES -2 enclosing guard rooms and a covered passage.

-FIGURES –

of elephants flanking it on both side

- depict hindu method of carving

- monolithic

- done in masonary with plaster all over.

UJALA AND ANDHERI BAODIS

UJALA BAODI(bright well)-because  it is open

-larger + deeper

-flight of steps -2 – leading to water.

-arcades + landings- many –inside

-northern top- water lift

-southern top- pavilion for guards to keep check on water

 ANDHERI BAODI(dark well)-because it is closed

-corridor – surrounding at top

              below corridor fine arched gallery approached   

              by steps which further goes into the water level.

-dome-center of its roof ,above the well

-dome –aperture at its apex

-aperture-use-to admit light and fresh air inside.

GADA SHAH’S SHOP AND HOUSE

Name –gada shah –beggar master

Applicable to the rajput chief medini ray ,who ,for a time though a servant of sultan mahmud 2 ,had virtually become master of the realm.

-upper floor-hall + 2 rooms

-hall-fountain in center

        -hindu conception

        -water from which was channeled out through a net

         work of channels and spouts carved into the heads

         of an elephants and tiger respectively.
